I'm not really sure where time goes, but already we're half way through August and my last blog post was in January! But that probably means I'm busy so that can only be good.

So what have I been up to since January? Well I've moved house to the grand metropolis of Huddersfield! Which is very nice indeed.

In February I attended the Great Big Voiceover Social which was amazing for networking and meeting other Voice Actors! I also did a bit of stand up comedy in the open mic that evening which was terrifying and fabulous all at once! I'm really glad I did it! On the subject of VO - I have been asked to narrate the next book in the Ghastly Grimoire series by Jeannie Wycherley so look out for that in early December! I'm without a recording studio at the minute as I'm having an attic conversion done - everything is everywhere so I'm in more chaos than I was when I moved house! But that should be done in time to get recording in early November.

Back in March I spent a lot of time helping to organise the Rochdale Culture Awards which ended up being a really fun event - and my faves Skylight Circus Arts won two awards!! And talking of Skylight - I was associate director and choreographer for their fantastic show 'Flight' that premiered back in March too. The show lives on and has recently been re jigged for showing at the Side by Side festival in Rochdale this past week. I also made an installation of origami birds in the foyer - just for fun like!

There's been lots of circus, but street theatre continues to fill my time - and I've been busy writing an Arts Council bid for a new collaborative act with Beka over at Frolicked in which we get to be medieval monks - and who wouldn't enjoy that?! I've also applied for a small pot of funding to create a new Kerfuffle walkabout act called The Posties - postmen obviously. So let's see where we get to with those! I've been playing around with the Royal Mail logo too which was fun! Funding is really competitive at the moment so I don't assume to get anything - but if you don't apply then you don't have any chance! Talking of Kerfuffle, myself and performer Gemma attended 'For The Love Of It' in Manchester - which was another amazing networking event with like minded folks during which we won a huge rosette for our fantastic cardboard costume! AND I did another stand up set. This was the first time I didn't feel like I nailed it - but that's part of the process! I think I chose the wrong material for that crowd!! But - onwards...

Over the summer so far, I've taken a giant chicken to York and Hampton Court Palace, a giant hippo to Leeds and some ghost caribou to Camp Bestival - all for the brilliant Thingumajig Theatre! I've helped out with some young carers making puppets out of cardboard for Lowry with Beka and returned to the brilliant CAFT festival with Skylight - we LOVE it there! I've been a Lollipop Lady with Curious Cargo in Warrington and down in big fancy London. And for a bit of a change I was area lead on the silent disco at Chester Zoo over 4 days for Global Grooves - which meant putting headphones on about 2 thousand people! Exhausting!

The rest of the summer looks like more circus, more funding bid writing, more lollipopping and my fist time performing for one of my favourite companies - run by my friends Mel, Sandra and Rowan - Eye of Newt Theatre Arts. Apparently it involves a giant pigeon... I'm really looking forward to that!

Finally - I've started doing a thing called Fuse Ladder at my new Pilates studio in Huddersfield. IT'S BRILLIANT!!! So expect me to be super hench any time soon!
