Another 4 month gap with so much info to include! It's been a chocca block Autumn and now we're into Winter and a New Year - nothing's changed! So let's go back to September...
September always sees the tail end of the Summer festival season and brings the first stages of Autumn and Winter bookings, so I had a little jaunt out to another Country Show with Plucky the Chicken in Thurrock for "Thingumajig" and a stint at one of my fave festivals - Out There in Great Yarmouth performing with "Frolicked". This time we were performing The Alchemist - one of the company's older shows, but it's completely new to me! I loved it! I got to hide behind the set and puppeteer rats and all manner of silly things (smoke machine included) before jumping out onstage as a giant fly and threatening the audience. A better day's work you could not have... I also managed a holiday to Tenby in September - much drinking of Cider was done and lots of time spent at the brilliant Harbwr Brewery.
October saw the first few meetings for our upcoming show Sparrow Hill at "Skylight Circus Arts" as well as doing some of Skylight's half term activities, a new block of Side by Side sessions and joining in with some of the historical research trips for the Sparrow Hill project. Handmade Parade began preparing for Halifax Light Switch on by working with a group of young carers on their Arts Award and making lanterns and choreography - which I helped with - for the Halifax Christmas Parade, which was part of the switch on. Quite excitingly the group were filmed by BLUE PETER! and I got myself a Blue Peter Badge. Very proud moment! We also began work towards the Manchester Christmas Parade which was such a success in 2022. I was asked to project manage the outreach work with schools for the parade which was hard work but really paid off in the end!
November cracked on with me making 9 xmas elf costumes for Handmade Parade, Lots more Sparrow Hill prep and workshops for Skylight, my birthday AND going to see my big sister and brother-in-law in a Panto! That was lots of fun! The best part for me though was dancing as an elf with a team of dancing elves all wearing the costumes I'd made and doing the choreography we worked on together in Halifax xmas parade - I've never seen Halifax so busy and we all decided we'd like to be xmas elves full time please.
December - more elf dancing! This time in Manchester Xmas Parade where I was also in charge of some dancing school groups and some dancing snowmen costumes! A hectic day but lots of festive fun! I went down to the West Midlands with Curious Cargo for some festive lollipop lady fun and then had a lovely holiday in Whitby from Xmas eve for 5 days. Aaand relax!
So January kicked off at full speed with a visit to st Chad's Church and rehearsals proper beginning for Sparrow Hill at Skylight! There was a 'getting locked in the stocks' type incident, but we eventually escaped. I'm super excited for the show - what a talented bunch of performers we have and I think this show will be ultra superb!! I've also been having some coaching around my voice acting and getting ready for recording some snazzy new promo reels in Feb! Watch this space! (I might be in a heap on the floor by the next time I post, but hey - it'll be a happy heap!)
